Because "Bollywood" only applies to Hindi films produced in Mumbai. A lot of non-Indians seem to have this notion that ALL Indian films are Bollywood films. This is not the case. Northeast Indians have their own language and film industry.

And I've never heard any Westerner talk about how pretty girls from NE India are. They don't even know they exist. The vast majority of Westerners think Indian girls are either all dark or all look like Bollywood girls. And I don't remember Indian girls ever being mainstream in the West

Girls like Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone, Shilpa Shetty, Carine Rice, Lilly Singh and Sanjay Gupta. And in general, it seems the majority of Indians in countries like the U. S., Canada and the UK are from Punjab. I've never met a Northeast Indian and the average Westerner doesn't even know that there are people in India who look like that.

Because the indian film industry is almost exclusively located in the indian mid to south regions. 21% hindi (located in Mumbai and mostly referred to when "bollywood" is mentioned"20% Telegu region, 20% Tamil region, 10% malayalam, 10% Kannada. So you see over 80% of the indian movie industry is not located in the north. and there certainly are movies from the northern areas. just not many.
