I actually like the occasional "sad/bad" ending, so long as it's realistic.

Movies that magically wrap up even the most tragic stories into a nice, sugar coated happy ending annoy me. It's just so improbable that it's immersion breaking.

Things don't always turn out perfectly. Sometimes people die. Sometimes they don't get married. Sometimes the hero doesn't get what they want.

Maybe that's just me, I don't know. I'm just a realist, so I hate seeing everybody live happily ever after, every single time, 'cause it just doesn't work that way in real life, and reinforces that I'm watching a fantasy.

Well, happiness is subjective. So i’m not always broken by the same things as other people, and some people would laugh out loud at the stuff that does break me.
I tend to get sucked into good movies and shows the first time around. If i’m tryna solve the protagonist’s problems, the filmmakers messed up pretty badly. So my response will usually be emotional at first and relative after a fashion. If it really sticks with me, i’ll become resolute in time.
With the bad ones, yeah, i’ll be like, “Howdahell they didn’t just…?”. Ell oh ell!

A lot of the time it just ruins the film for me. Like For Colored Girls had extremely sad middles. One of my fave actors played a rapist... kids were guilt in another part... A closeted gay man gave his wife aids. Jut too many bad middles in that movie that i didn't even care about the silly “come together for support” ending. I have no intentions of rewatching films like that

I did the opposite lol. When I watched the Clint Eastwood movie In the Line of Fire I imagined that Clint East wood’s character died heroically taking a bullet for the President instead of miraculously surviving. And I was one of the few people in my friend group who was happy with Tony Stark and Natasha dying at the end of Endgame.

don't watch movies anymore, total waste of my time usually... most. I watch youtube "information" and read. I watched plenty when I was young...

I live real life and yes, if I had been more aware and made better decisions I could have made a difference in another animals life this year. It sadened me to find this baby creature dead, but it re-challenged me to do better... in real life.

and I often get lost in my own version of the movie, running through my fully blown and vividly technicolor imagination
