Why wasn't Dave Filoni a part of the writers for the Star Wars sequel trilogy?

I know he's not perfect and that he sometimes can drift off of the Canon universe a bit... but does it even compare to how poorly the sequel trilogy went? I actually liked the Clone Wars and was expecting him to be the director of the sequel trilogy or at least some screen writer. Were they just not confident in his ability to make a Star Wars movie?

Writers? Those movies had WRITERS?

Seriously- they didn't care. They had NO IDEA why people liked Star Wars, and just assumed if you put the name on it, and have space ships, lightsabers, and the name "Skywalker", the fans would eat it up.

And that's what we got. I guess I'm just curious why they didn't have him work with the writers. I mean... I thought they would since they're familiar with him 🤷

I think at this point I gotta accept that Star Wars is dead and someone has to write something new to replace it 😒

Well, that is not dead which can eternal lie; it needn't stay that way if the IP falls into the hands of people who understand and respect it. It was pretty dead (at least in a box office sense; the books and games were thriving) between Return of the Jedi and the release of the prequels, and rose again to prominence. Once Disney finishes hollowing it out- or rather, once they admit that it's done (which I wouldn't wait up for), it'll lay fallow for a time, and probably be sold off, hopefully into better hands.

In meantime, if you're looking for something to scratch that itch, have you read the Vorkosigan saga or watched Babylon 5? They're less "space cowboy" and more "space opera", but still both quite good.

Perhaps Star Wars could make a comeback if they ret-conned the sequel trilogy 🤷 but wow... people complained about the prequel trilogy. Minus the Phantom Menace I actually really like the prequels 😅

I'm actually deciding that this is war... I'm going to write my own 👍🏽 only thing is... do I want to include some kind of mystical power like the force in mine? Or would it seem to close to star Wars to be okay? I'm thinking on it 👍🏽

Well, before you do, have you read Joseph Campbell or Mercea Eliade? Their writings about ideas and myths shaped Star Wars into what it is; I'd suggest giving them a read if you want to write something lasting.
