Megadeth vs Metallica? Favourite song?

I honestly think that Dave getting kicked out of Metallica was one of the best things to ever happen in metal history.

I like Metallica better. My favorite song is probably Master of Puppets.

As for why? I like their songwriting better and their overall sound. Dave Mustaine is a phenomenal guitarist (even better, I hate to say, than Kirk Hammett), but he's an immature trainwreck of a man and a terrible, horrible, AWFUL singer.

Funny story, when I heard that the title of Metallica's new album was 72 Seasons, I thought it was a joke about how long it takes them to release an album these days XD

I used to completely agree with your reasoning, but I think Dave's voice is an acquired or learned taste. Especially on Sweating Bullets (my fav song rn): when I first heard that I was disgusted 🤣. Metallica has more of a clean produced sound which is probably why they appeal to the masses (not saying that's a bad thing).

Yeah they are pretty awful at releasing new stuff, but I mean it has been 40 or so years so you gotta give it to them 😅

I like the guitarwork of megadeth way better. Also I'm not a big fan of Hetfields vocals. Metallica also sounds a bit more mainstream and "radio hit material" which I've never liked much. Megadeth has more "personality" I think.

completely agree. the first three (maaaaybe four) albums of Metallica were amazing, the rest were sub par (excluding a couple gems like fuel).

I liked them both as a teen. Metallica was probably my favorite of the two, but I lost interest when "Enter Sandman" was released.

Megadeath's "Liar" was funny and I was told it was part of his dispute with Metallica.

I like Megadeth the best , I feel Metallica went down the tubes after their first 3 albums , Justice for all is alright but I feel that’s when Metallica started to go down the tubes after their and turned into Alternicca. Megadeth stayed true stayed true to their music and Dave has an awesome voice. I choose Megadeth over Metallica any day

why? at first i couldn't either (i think it was due to dave's snarling voice), but they are honestly amazing. a cinematic experience for your ears.

Yes, his voice just annoyed me. I appreciate how well they play, but I have a limited tolerance for the typically distorted metal sound and much prefer prog rock. So, when i listened to metal, if the singer turns me off, I was gone. Same reason I couldn't listen to Rush, even though they had the best rock drummer in history. I should scrub their vocals and I could listen all day! LOL
