Do you like/enjoy watching horror movies? Why/why not?

That's my favorite genre! When I started writing years ago, horror was the genre I started in. Horror movies inspire me. I've always been a fan of suspense though, and horror movies have a lot of suspense.
A girl hiding in the room, the killer comes in, will he find her? lol. I get nightmares from them though, but sometimes the nightmares give me ideas for stories or novels.

At night, I like to turn out the lights, make some popcorn, and watch the scariest movie I can find. The early Friday the 13th films still scare me. I think it's because they used real special effects.

Horror movies today aren't as good. I think I'm going to watch one tonight. I''ve been feeling down and maybe that's what I need. You gave me a good idea!.

I can do back to back. Just finished evil dead rise with candyman (2021). The original was still better. I wrote one suspense horror story while I was in university. I entitled it “The stranger that I used to know.” Almost like Scream/I know what you did last summer” kind but a little bit more twisted. It was too long ago. I was bored and I started writing. It kills time

I've never seen any of the candy man films, but I've seen evil dead. That is one of the best horror movies ever made. The special effects are amazing!

That's awesome that you wrote a horror story like that. You should keep writing. It helps build your memory and strengthen your brain. Sounds like an interesting story. Mashing up two story ideas is a great part of writing.

You’re welcome. Nah I didn’t show it to anyone. But I wrote it while I was watching our old landlord at the hospital. He was very sick. The hospital gave an eerie vibe and i was mostly alone. The landlord was barely awake but I’m there to comfort him while his daughter had to go home and change and bring food back.

No I hate horror movies. They're too scary.. I prefer pshycological thrillers if anything. They can evan be realistic. Horror is usually more made up stuff but not always. I dont like the "attack" feeling in horror but I like the build up in thriller

Watching paranormal shows or series investigations on YouTube. Is sooooooo normal for us. We just smile or laughed on people reactions. We can I. D fake channels just for views.

Like the new movie the pope exorcist, for us we see the graphics was awesome.

No. I really don't get the interest of women and horror movies. But I think it runs along the same lines why a lot of women like watching CSI and like programs. Do you really want to know a woman who basically knows the book on how to murder someone and get away with it?😂

I might like it if it's creative like "The sixth sense". But is that really a "horror" movie?

I love watching horror movies, but only with close people, like my family friends and cousins, because i get scared af. and cling to them during jumpscares and eerie scenes 😂. Its fun to feel the adrenaline pump throughout your body and be creepee out. I like supernatural stuff, not serial killer ones.

I grew up on horror movies as a child like Friday the 13th, Halloween, Insidious, Sinister, and shit like that as a child, so I definitely do like the genre. However, most horror movies today just suck. Don't get me wrong, a good CHUNK of horror movies do that are even old/iconic, but they're still entertaining to watch and these newer ones aren't.

I used to hate horror because the concept of being afraid went against my political views.

Then I saw this anime called re:zero and was enjoying every second.

I wanted to know more about Re: Zero and then I saw the genre was horror.

I like a good horror movie but it’s got to have a mental twist to it. Eg think Spilt cross between Saw. Thrillers are my next go to then polar opposite to something like The longest ride and black hawk down
