I think he is right. There are only 24 hours in the day. Most of us need to work part of the day, but then what? Gaming systems and especially virtual reality, is vastly better than actual reality. I have access to about 300 TV channels, and most of them are crap. lol

Oh, and don't get me started on sports. Sports are awesome if you're not participating from a recliner! lol

There are so many games, hobbies and activities, that I'm surprised TV is still a thing.

I know cable companies are starting to lose customers because they are monopolizing the business, and no one wants to pay $200-$300 a month for landline telephone service when they can use their cell phone, internet that may or may not run at a decent speed, and cable service, which is mostly news, sports, reality TV, and documentaries, and not even good documentaries. Stupid ones with Aliens and ghosts that show nothing but a bunch of nerds walking through a house with cameras, pretending like they are the best thing since Dr Who! (Good show)

Streaming services are definitely making all the money. That's why Neilson has that app that monitors internet activity.. Even they're getting smart.

Even if there wasn't statistics, it wouldn't be hard to prove this because cable companies, especially Xfinity, are charging more money because they have to make up for the loss in customers. I worked in the cable industry once, and streaming services are running them into the ground, because well, face it, so much dumb entertainment. I refuse to watch reality shows because I feel like I lost 10 IQ points each time I see one! I'm a writer, I can't afford to get stupid!

I imagine one day companies like Xfinity will do 100% streaming, (But will probably still charge more). I saw youtube has their own services now and it's dirt cheap, compared to Xfinity.

Keep in mind that Star Trek was created by Gene Roddenberry and he was a product of the 60's. That fails to take into account the full scope of humanity. If it wasn't for his womanizing I would classify him as a bit of a hippie. T. v. is going away. But not because people have lost interest. It's because with the creation of the varied media devices they're able to make it mobile now. Gene Roddenberry Gail's to take into account man's evil nature. WAR drives most our innovations. In many ways we've never left the caves. And I honestly don't see us EVER evolving past our petty greed. A society where people work JUST to better themselves is preposterous. I think Data hit the nail right on the head. Network TV is a dead man walking. Streaming services are still doing okay but as far as I can see they're more about games than anything else.
