definitely the 60s. There were still leftover shows from the 50s and even the 40s. People like Ed Sullivan, Jackie Gleason and Ernie Kovacs had variety type shows. The westerns were classics as well. Rawhide, Maverick, Bonanza were all huge, Every city had it's own local talent that performed on kids shows. Clowns, astronauts, cowboys and superheroes were common. I see a lot of these shows on MeTV and realize that you could not produce shows like that today.
I went with 80s but probably just extreme bias given that it was my childhood.

That was heartbreaking for sure! One of the things that actually drew me into Miami Vice was the music. I didn't realize it at the time but Jan Hammer composed about an album's worth of original music for every single episode on a weekly basis and all while having to watch VHS tapes of the raw footage and master and everything with only around 5 days for each episode.
Jan Hammer became a legend to my eyes after that although I didn't learn about him behind the show until my teens:

my favorite episode is "Where the buses down't run," with Bruce McGill as the ex-cop obsessed with bringing in a drug dealer no one had heard from in decades
There's like a zillion songs/tunes he made from Miami Vice as a result. It's endless! Like ~20 mins of unique music he made per episode for 114 episodes, so around 2,280 minutes worth of original music! It might not be the greatest music but I'm blown away by the monumental scale of his efforts.

I'll have to watch that one again! It's been a while since I last watched the series but it might be a good time to watch all five seasons again. The show is what got me interested in getting a MIDI keyboard and trying to make my own music.
Also TNG is my absolute favorite of the Star Treks. TOS is definitely my second favorite but that also pushes me towards the 80s. 😁
I didn't watch TV till I was 12 years old and was instantly bored by it. I have never gone back.

The very end of the 1990s and begining of the 2000s, because it had tv from the 2000s, 1990s, and 1980s mixed together.
The 70s and 80s my favorite TV show is all the family. Of course I saw them as reruns
2010-2019. The most options a lot of which where really good and you didn't have to subscribe to 50 streaming services.
would pick the 00's
late 50's trough the 80's.
Seems like the 70s were
2000's and 90's.
