I’m going to read all of these by the end of the year, but your votes may affect my order.
Reading Kindred by Octavia e Butler now. I’m about a third through and I look forward to seeing where it goes. The writing is very tactful, and I finally see why people love Butler so much
Hey little Fluffy !!!, been real busy of late, and it's nice to be back with my smurf friend. So proud of the reading you are doing, try to also do non fiction stuff too. For me, there were some books that literary changed the person I was after reading them. It's also important to reflect on the stuff you read, that's the main goal, how the stuff has enhanced your mind and then how you can apply that acquired ammunition. So you have to ask questions and discuss about the stuff you read, you can start by asking me anything you may think you did not understand. Of cause, there is more I do not know, but I can certainly tell you where to look for answers, the journey will always tell you more than it's destination.
Back to the question, you just cannot know a book by it's cover or even the stuff written at the back of the cover page. These are mainly chosen by the publisher and the writer usually has zero power over them. But always remember, the most important point is to have the correct attitude to be open to absorb the knowledge. This is vital. We always come back to Aldous Huxley's, powerful words, “If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, Infinite. This is really a concept he takes from the celebrated 18 century poet, William Blake, namely the poem, The doors of perception. I was so totally blown by Blake, that I named my cat, ( a massive Grey American Tabby), William Blake, and used to call him therefore , "Billy". However, you have to have an open mind, coupled with oodles of humility in order to be able to learn and benefit by the available knowledge at hand. To be the ideal learner you have to have the humility and innocence of a child. Most people are so closed, and narrow , and biased in their own little mental cages and fetters, that they are virtual blind sea cucumbers mentally, who crawl in darkness eating whatever shit is thrown on them from their masters above. And girls suffer from this even more in many ways. The male dominated chauvinistic world specially encourages this on women to keep her stupid. Always remember this. Now, with these in mind, best of luck to your oceans of mental and spiritual exploration. Woman, remember, we were all born to rule, and your night is always young.

The Handmaid's tale is a really interesting book. Usually, most dystopian books are. I read a couple other books from Margaret Atwood also, just because I found that book interesting. Girl with the dragon tattoo is supposed to be a really good one too, but I haven't read that one yet.
Out of those for me it is the shadow of the wind - I absolutely love Záfons books and that one I haven't read yet.
The millennium series is amazing (the girl with the dragoon tattoo) - read those more than once.
Handmaidens tail - same, though only had one read through of that one.
Despite of enjoying Neil Gaiman - then I've struggled with American gods.
I've seen the original (Swedish) version of the film 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo', and it was well made, acted, a great story and so on, but very disturbing.
