Why is the Barbie movie so popular and hyped?

Everyone on social media seems to be talking it; girls dress in pink or do their makeup like Barbie and there are thousands of posts and memes about it.. Basically it's the latest trend after Wednesday. I watched the trailer of the movie and it's nothing special, so I don't get why people act like it's the movie of the century.

That movie is cringeworthy and ridiculous.. It's embarrassing grown-up adults would become so obsessed over such a movie 🐑 🐑

I think mainly because it's based from a very popular girl's toy created by Ruth Handler and released in 1959.

I have seen the preview and nothing against Barbie fans but it isn't the movie for me. I'd have to be dragged kicking and screaming, tied to a chair and have my eyes held open to watch it.
