Why is the movie Brave so hated?

I don't know about hated, but it's certainly one of the more forgettable Pixar movies, and notably almost everything they've released since Brave with the exception of Coco hasn't been very well received and considered part of the studio's decline. Since their releases that came immediately before it were WALL-E, Up, Toy Story 3, and Cars 2, I think it was seen as a big let down and more like a Disney movie that had wandered into Pixar.

I will admit it’s no Lion King or Little Mermaid but it’s still good

I absolutely love it.

I wouldn't say hated, more like underrated.
