Do you suppose a bass player is an important member of a band?

The singers and guitarists get all the love. And the drummer is always praised for "driving the band."

You could have a band with just a singer, a guitarist and a drummer. And it would still be insufficient rock and roll (despite the drums).

What about the bassist? He appears to be the soul of the band.

I see this when I attend gigs in my city.
