Would you rather be a caveman/cavewoman from long ago, or a hobbit?

I was asked this from a man offline. Don't want to go into all details, but, I was telllng him, I can survive. He then said, some other things about that, and 'you would be a cute 'hobbit'. I said, I don't want huge and harry feet... etc. anyway, just needed to remake this question.

This queston from him, started out from me talking about survival and t turned into something fun.

Hobbit picking caveman is pointless as one would be dead way sooner. Hobbits live in a nice community, and have nice houses, have nice feasts and live a good lifespan. Meanwhile a caveman is fending for themselves, prone to dying from animals like wolfs or bears without a nice home, winter is something that can and will try to kill you every year unlike hobbits who just stay cozy.
Caveman is going to be less clean and healthy leading to more risk of diseases and viruses.

It's a simple choice be a caveman for 30 years if lucky to live that long or be a hobbit who will die of old age around 100.

I wonder if this is supposed to be a variation of The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse. The country mouse lives a simple and secure life, while the town mouse lives among humans and eats luxurious food but lives in constant danger.

In this case, I guess the hobbit would be the country mouse, since they live comfortable, laid-back, uncomplicated lives. However, I can't see much advantage to being a caveman, since even the most successful caveman still only gets to eat whatever he can hunt or gather and has no free time or energy for anything other than surviving. No sanitation, no modern medicine, no agriculture, no animal husbandry, no dentists... No thanks.

There's a certain allure to the idea of being totally free in an untamed wilderness, using nothing but your own two hands to build a home and secure a comfortable life for your family... but if that's my goal, I might as well pick the option that gives me that life from the very beginning, and one where my family and I are not in daily peril.
