Buddy Ebsen was the original Tin Man but had a serious reaction to the silver body paint. Bert Lahr stepped into the role.
The Tin Man role is different in the two movies. Nipsey Russell does the better job that the movie required.
Let’s also acknowledge how nipsey was 60 in the movie doing the role also to move the way he did
I didn't know Nipsey Russell played the Tin Man. D**N !!!
Mea culpa... Of course I meant Jack Haley stepped in as the Tin Man. Bert Lahr was the Cowardly Lion.
I gotta say Haley did the Job.. Nipsey tried to add a bit too much flavor to the role.. He didn't act enough like a moving tin man to me..
I agree but hey man how you’ve been, you been missing a while man I was getting worried lol
Yeah for sure man, that's a really good point. Jack Haley really captured the essence of what the Tin Man is supposed to be - y'know, an actual dude made of metal. Nipsey Russell might've tried to jazz it up a bit too much by adding extra comedy flair or whatever. Don't get me wrong, the character's supposed to be funny at times too. But Haley really sold the whole robotic tin aspect of it, like you said. You believed he was a robot dude. Nipsey seemed like he was playing more of a comedian role if that makes sense but nipsey did his damn thing in the movie too being 60 years old to move the way he did too. Even though not really embodying what it would be like to actually be a tin robot. And that's kinda the core of who the Tin Man is, you know? So I gotta agree - Haley's take was definitely truer to the character. He really became the Tin Man and didn't add too many extras. That's what made it so unique and iconic. Jack Haley took the role to another level by keeping it so realistic.
Hahahaha Thanks man, you know life happened and I took a break from Gag.. But I ain't too much.. Can't complain.. Kinda missed the place..
You are absolutely right.. Nipsey was going for something different it seems but Haley really put in the performance..
Yo no doubt man, I feel you good to see you back! We all take breaks now and then, life be crazy busy. Glad you ain't too overloaded these days though bruh, you were missed.
And yeah for real, Nipsey def was tryna spice it up with his version which was cool. But sometimes you gotta respect the OG source material ya know? Haley straight up embodied that tin man role flawlessly. Dude deserved an Oscar for how well he sold bein all rusty and barely able to move lol.
Nipsey had some great comedic moments too, but you can't top ol faithful Jack. Props to you for realizin he captured the character essence way better, takes a real one to admit when they trippin. We all learn somethin new every day over here!
Good lookin out droppin some knowledge too, always down to chop it up 'bout classic movies and performances. Just glad to see your cool ass back in the mix, it ain't the same without ya 🤜🤛
Jack. I don't know why i found him so sexy lol. He played the heck outta being stiff. But i love hearing Nipsey scream TEEEENIE
Slide Some Oil to Me was the song!
Haha no way, that's hilarious you found him sexy! I guess Jack Haley did totally own that stiff robotic thing in such a cool way.
And girl it was hilarious when he used cry Ah Teeenie TEENIE, Nipsey Russell did have moments where he belted out "TEEEENIE slide some oil to meee" bring it on down by spine was the song along you can’t win. I can see how his big silly voice screaming that might've been amusing to watch.
Ray and Jack look better in costume. Not so much out of it
