Why do so many people say physical games are better than digital?

Physical games almost never go on sale if at all that cheap, yet people say physical is better than digital.

Digital games go on sale so much and so cheap too also not all games on digital you can get on physical.

Physical games come on disk or cartridge, it can get scratched, destroyed or lost. Digital is all on your account and console.

What’s your thoughts?

Digital can get lost more easily, there just have to be a license issue and the game gets removed from the market place you bought it from, lost forever.

Digital is more like renting or borrowing the games, physical you own.

Also you can resell and trade physical games. If the new price is too high, by a used one.

Also Games take up less space on the HDD, espacially usefull for the Switch.

No that’s not how it works. If that was the case, everyone who bought games on old consoles would not have their games anymore. Also when would you ever resell or trade in games? I have never done that in years. And digital games go on sale way more than physical.

It happend fairly recently, the license thing, Octopath Traveler I and II have been lost from the Switch EShop for about a month. Or Cult of the Lamb had the dispute with Unity as Unity wanted to switch payment model which Cult of the Lamb developer didn't wanted to pay, and so this game could have vanished from all digital stores as well.

And trading is pretty common, you can just ask a friend or family member if they want to play the game once you finished it. And used game are sold very often. Gamestop made it a big part of their store concept.

Digital are nice and sales are also good, but it has it drawbacks as well.

you never truly own digital games. Sure you can download it as many times as you want but primary provider of that download can revoke it for any reason they want. Eventually I’m sure they will shut down the ability to download, as it costs them server maintenance to keep those downloads up. They have already shut down the ability to purchase digital games for Wii/Wii U/3DS. It’s only a matter of time they shut down the ability to download games you have purchase in the past.

I used to buy everything physical but then my ps5 is digital only so I’m basically forced to buy things digitally on there. I still buy physical for switch but that’s about it

They shut it down because they no longer manufacture those consoles. And sell games for those. You make it sound like they did a terrible thing.

Also Why would they do that? That would be ripping off people because they paid for those games.

No hate man. I still buy digital games out of impulse sometimes when I want to immediately play a new game but physical is objectively the smarter option.
