King Kong when it was first made was a heavily, heavily racist metaphor. If you look back at the very first King Kong movie, it’s not subtle at all. It was made in 1933, racism and Jim Crow was still huge back then and it was a movie depicting the fear of shifting racial politics of its time. Ultimately, he died at the end and the blonde white lady all dresses in white lived because that was what they wanted people to hope for — the downfall of black-focused politics and the return of the racist status quo. These days, King Kong has taken on a new life but that origin can’t be forgotten or dismissed when examining any new iterations of the giant ape.

nah. This is how people look back on history and re-write it to make sense in their own minds. I grew up in the 70s. There was a remake of this film in the 80s too. Nobody ever thought it was racist. Including black people. There's lots of things like this that nobody thought was a big deal until the last 10-15 years. Suddenly they know better than anybody living in the past what things mean. If someone wanted to be racist in 1933 they didn't have to be subtle or hide messages, right? Think about it.

Kong is hit by several bursts of gunfire, and gazes at Ann for the last time before dying and falling from the building. Ann is greeted by Jack as reporters gather around Kong's corpse. Carl takes a last look and says, "It wasn't the airplanes. It was Beauty killed the Beast."

Denham comments, "It wasn't the aeroplanes, it was beauty killed the beast", for he climbs the building in the first place only in an attempt to protect Ann Darrow, an actress originally kidnapped by the natives of the island and offered up to Kong as a sacrifice (in the 1976 remake, her character is named "Dwan"

Either the woman has to die or the Kong does. What do you think Kong was going to do with her? Take her out to dinner? She was going to wind up being a condom or a salad topping. Yes, it's horrible that Kong was taken from his home -- where by the way, he was killing all the virgin female sacrifices the natives tossed to him for years.

I bet in the modern world they wouldn't kill Kong tho. Similar to how Sea World knew the killer sharks were dangerous but let them kill & maim several people before getting rid of the show because there was too much $$$ on the line.
