I agree, I wanted the younger brother (Tommy) to win. I felt worse for him than I did for the older brother (Brendan), because Brendan had family and friends and support, and Tommy was so alone for so long. My heart just warmed for him much more and I also wanted to see him give the money to the woman who lost her husband (his friend).
I didn't really like Brendan at all, haha! I don't know why, but I just never cared about him and never rooted for him. Tommy was so damaged, I just felt so bad for him and felt he deserved it so much more. And, let's not forget, he was a MUCH better fighter, packing a tougher punch too. Brendan was a mediocre fighter, at best.

I got the feeling that movie was inspired by Ken Shamrock and Frank Shamrock two brothers who were both stars in the UFC in the early 90s who never fought. One of them wanted to have the fight, the other didn't want to fight his brother. So some writer slapped that fan based wet dream together and made it a movie.
