The Golden age is the very first era, and it includes Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, Fantasia, Dumbo and Bambi. It was referred to as “golden” because it marked a major step for the company and for the world, when Snow White was released as the very first full length animated film. It stands out as a trying time for the company, as even though it was a huge deal, a lot of the films like Fantasia and Pinocchio didn’t do very well.

There were some controversies too that these films were marketed for children but also had very very dark scenes that were sandwiched in with bright and upbeat ones. All of these films were overseen by Walt intensely and Walt figured that that was going to be his formula - make films based on old children’s tales and have some dark, serious scenes along with bright, happy scenes.

I WAS going to say The Little Mermaid, oh my god, I still love that movie! But out of the movies you chose… Bambi for sure!

The Renaissance was definitely my favorite era, especially with The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast.

@clampfan101 Yeah, me too! I LOVED those movies growing up! Little Mermaid and Aladdin were my number one and two favorites, respectively, but Beauty and the Beast was fantastic also! (in my opinion).

Pinocchio. I think. That donkey scenebwas disturbing. The whale was scary. I don't remember much of it :(

dumbo close second but so traumatic and I don't know harsh like this very corrupt thing I don't know it was revealing of how cruel the world can be, which was more extreme to me than hunters.

hunters unseen vs wildlife who run seemed better than the aggressive and wild animals seen in dumb and the other stuff I barely remember. Poor dumbo couldn’t run and he was away from his mother.

the wild seemed better than being locked up, and having friends who are good and true also.

Bambi had the whole forest on his side. A lover and friend with feline, brothers, and a whole neighborhood. He wasn’t alone in facing the dogs and the hunters and he fought the dogs and ronno. So- yeah Bambi for the win- literally 😁 🏅 👍

Truth be told, I’ve never actually sat and watch them start to end. It’s mostly bird and pieces. Dumbo is probably the most I’m familiar with.

Pinocchio. Dumbo is too sad, I've never liked Bambi, and I'm indifferent about the other two. 😄
