There hasn't been a good Superman movie since Christopher Reeve. Henry Cavill could have been great as Superman, but as usual the writing and directing let him down.

I'm cautiously optimistic about the new movie, but it could just as easily be another disaster. It's really make-or-break for DC and Warner Bros. Nolan set the bar very high, and Warner Bros has limboing under that bar for a decade. This is going to be the first DC movie began under Zazlov and Gunn, so it could be the start of something great, or it could completely crater. Let's hope for the former.

Henry Cavill had this mean streak look. It made you believe he could really kill somebody with his heat vision and not give a crap about it.
Christopher Reeve embodied the inherent kindness that Superman has.
