He hardly does agent stuff. In almost all Bond movies, they just give him a target, want him to just figure out whatever incomplete information there is, he snoops around and then kills the guy

Obviously James Bond is famous to the viewers of the films but within the actual stories, the character Bond is only known to intelligence circle villains as a result of his reputation for success. Which is a result of his effectiveness.
