Yep. From an old series of spy novels from the 1950s to early 60s by Ian Fleming.

But you've seen the films. No one has all those gadgets, fabulous clothes and women dropping at their feet 24/7, and the ability to escape ANY amount of gunfire, traps, other spies and explosions.

It's pure male fantasy, but an awful lot of fun to watch.

Yes. After WW2 spy movies were very popular in Europe. We had Kapitan Kloss who infiltrated Nazis as German Wehrmacht-Abwehr officer. Brits had their James.

Not by that name. The stories in those Bond movies were taken from real life experiences (and probably greatly embellished, of the author, Ian Flemming, who WAS a spy before writing those books!!

Uh, yeah. Ian Fleming created the character based on his experiences during WWII. Bond was supposedly a composite of several people Fleming met in those times. Who doesn't know that?
