I pay attention to the acting and if its convincing rather than the race. I like idris but i prefer his American accent over his real one. So i’d prefer someone else be Bond. If he had to be Black and British then i’d prefer John Boyega, Alfred Enoch, Damson Idris or Lucien Laviscount. Love their accents on them

I wouldn't really care, but that's mainly because I'm not interested in modern Bond films anyway - they're just generic action movies now, and not very good ones at that. I *would* care if they went with Idris Elba though - the man's a prize pillock, and I can do without blanket coverage of him all over the media, which is what would happen.
They already went with a chavvy black Miss Moneypenny anyway, plus there's that Nomi character and there have been many black bond-girls over the years, so they're already covered in terms of political correctness. If anything, they should probably be looking for a British Asian (Indian / Pakistani / Bangladeshi) - outside of the one movie set in India (Octopussy), there have been virtually no South Asian characters in the entire Bond series (even in that one, the Bond girls were Swedish).
It wouldn't tick me off. But I created a take on this already. It would bring us no closer to talking about "race", diversity, or culture.
Why not make him an Asian or perhaps Middle Eastern. Maybe things newer perspectives can be introduced and we can get past the insane obsession of defining everything in terms of "White" and "Black".
Henry Goulding is ready Day One.
I really don't care after the last bond that I went to see. I've kind of decided that I'm done with the whole thing.
I do think that it's not really that relevant in modern society.
Bond hasn't really been ahead of its time for a while now, Daniel Craig was too much like a thug to me.
They brought him in to compete with the Bourne identity movies. As it was so rough and action packed.
James bond was always suarve and charming, although he had to handle himself his gadgets meant he didn't have to really rough people up not in the gritty way of recent not unless really necessary you know.
I know my opinion isn't the popular opinion but I think it's past its time.

He must stay male though.
Technically there should only ever be one 007 agent.
They should just follow the books where each number designation belongs to one agent 007, 008 and so on. So only James Bond would have the 007 identification. And once he dies or retires then it's never used again and they go to the next numbered
designation for the next agent so 008 for example. Or when a new agent joins the 00 agents group they are assigned a new number.
That's how it should be for the movies to.
I wouldn't mind Idris Elba as a 00 Agent though. Just not 007.This is a pretty weird question. I read lot of them and very rarely do I feel inclined to mention how weird of a question it is but I have to tell you that this is a weird question.
Anyone reading this and answering the question, if you answered yes, by definition, you are a straight up racist. "I don't care" is an acceptable answer. But if you said yes, you are a racist.
I usually not calling that sort of thing out. I don't feel right doing it most the time. This question I weird enough to make me call it out.If it's like a different character, then I wouldn't mind at all. I just don't like it when they take characters and change them.
Like Hermione Granger from Harry Potter being established as having brown hair and being white according to J. K. Rowling's illustrations. A black woman played her in the player, but she had black hair, not brown. And no, that's not racist because I wasn't thrilled when they did this to Colonel Tigh from Battlestar Galactica. In the original series he was played by a black man, and in the reboot he was played by a white guy. If people complain about "whitewashing" then fine, just don't be hypocritical about it.And his next movie would be "Tin Finger" as he would be hanging out at the street corner with a tin cup trying to scrape up funds for producing the movie and having a tin plated girl for his one night stand. Somethings are better left unchanged. Ian Fleming would be turning over in his grave.
If the British spy is played by an actual British person, then fine.

Otherwise, that's like casting the American Superman by a Black Brit.Interesting, but…
No issue.
Aside from the fact it'd be beyond stupid. In many countries where James Bond has been Africans are rare. Since James Bond is supposed to be a spy agent it'd be pretty fucking stupid to have the MOST OBVIOUS non-local, non-typical person in a region be a spy. Might as well dress him in a neon yellow kilt, with flashy signs floating above his head & a speaker system announcing "spy, spy, spy" every five seconds. It’s hard to get upset over anything you have zero hope over controlling. There are so many others things you can choose to worry about.
For me, tv/movies are always better when they care about details and quality. Usually in those the actors fall into place, no matter who they are.no as long as he's a good character, but seems better to me to have 006, "black" bond girl. His illegitimate daughter from...
could write quite a story on that...
No. I actually had a gut reaction against it at first till someone said Idris. To me James Bond is a Scottsman, that's just Bond. So the image I had was white scottsman.
But a black Scottsman works. It's the energy, the attitude behind it that matters. You could do that without taking from the character or fundamentally changing him like if they tried to make Bond a woman. The James Bond franchise is kind of dead now, but it would annoy me if they blackwashed 007, or turned him into a gay, woman, or whatever. Blacks already have Shaft, why doesn't somebody do something with THAT character? He'd be way cooler than that castrated Bond.
Only if the cast him "because he is black" and not "because he is good at acting like James Bond." Though, it does raise the question "what does James Bond act like?" To which there isn't really a definitive answer. I'd hope the next Bond leans into the Daniel Craig interpretation, but that's just personal preference.
Personally, I wouldn't care so long as they keep Bond as a suave, active man with his unique skills and flaws. Idris Elba would've been a great choice when he was younger, but now he doesn't want to do it and frankly he's too old anyway.
James Bond should never, ever be replaced by a woman, however. I fully agree with Daniel Craig's opinion on that subject: a female star in the 007 franchise should be her own unique character, and not a revision of an existing one.As always, make the story good and there will be few objections. If instead it looks like someone took a beloved franchise, slapped a diversity stamp on it and then didn't know what else to do with it, people will eat him alive. It's not that complicated, really.
I have no time to wash my hair 3x per week let alone think if the next James Bond is black..
Not hugely bothered but it would likely kill the franchise.
they are based fairly well on the books and the description of Bond as an ex RN Commander, public school etc.
Apart from that Tom Ellis is highly likely to play him.
the times about right as Lucifer as finished.I mean i haven't really watched them past I think whoever the third actor was? Sean Connery was the first. And then wasn't there a guy after him but only played in one bond movie before he was replaced? Well i watched all the movies that third guy was in too. But i never picked up past there. They were good movies but trying to get through all of them was taxing. Plus i like the old school cold war era guns a lot more. Polymer guns are practical but they're hella ugly!
If it was set in the original time, the 1950's and 60's, I would feel it wasn't staying true to the source material. If it's set in modern day England, it could be any modern-day Englishman. Or woman (hey, the Queen parachuted out of a helicopter in 2012...).
Honestly, I don't want any 007 movies not based on a Fleming book. Other than that, I don't want any movies with the lead that deviate much from the original Connery. Bonds with blue-eyed protagonists make bond lose all its charm. Both Roger Moore and Daniel Craig as far as I'm concerned make the character lose a lot. About the character is a character from the 50-60s a black agent is far-fetched. Although there are actors like Idris Elba who could be excellent in the role.
No. I got more important thing to worry about than the race of a fictional character.
