Some of his stuff is great, some I'm not keen on. Same as every great pop musician of the last 75 years.

I'm a great fan of Cliff Richard. Only artist to have number one hits in the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s. The only reason he didn't in the 10s was to my knowledge he didn't release singles, just albums in that decade. I'm not keen on at least half his catalogue. It doesn't mean he's not an outstanding musician.

I can say similar things about Prince, Jacko, and a dozen other artists.

I saw him at the Forum in Los Angeles in 1974. He was a superstar in the early 70s and totally rocked out.

He recorded some great songs. Crocodile Rock is a rock legend.
I performed Candle in the Wind, accompanied by a master pianist, for a couple hundred people in 2010.

I really like a lot of his work. I didn't particularly care for his persona when he started wearing big glasses and feather boas, but that's alright.

I actually do like a few of his songs. It's funny, I just mentioned about how pretty an harmonica can sound on another question, one of Elton's songs, I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues, has a beautiful harmonica solo in it!
