What do you think about musicals?

Some are good and there’s some crappy ones? If you like them what’s your favorite?

when i have some time off during the year, usually the weeks before and after Christmas, i have a seat in the pit orchestra for one of the last truly original Broadway musicals that is still up, and still in its opening night theater, and it is a heavenly experience, the scoring, the performances, the wit, the twists, everything about it, and all the authentic musical theater people involved in it (Candy Spelling need not apply). i still complain and i still get pissy about things sometimes, but i wouldn't miss it

but the newer musicals where they take some rom-com from the 1980s and throw a bunch of half-baked songs into it and charge $700 a seat, that is truly criminal. they are horrible shows, and the unknowing public falls for them, it's offensive

I think musicals are awesome! There’s something about how they mix music, acting, and dancing that makes them so much fun. The way characters break into song just makes everything feel bigger and more emotional, you know? Whether it’s something deep like Les Misérables or just a feel-good show like Mamma Mia!, they all have their own charm. It’s like they pull you into the world they create, and you can’t help but be swept up in it. Musicals are just a cool way to tell stories and bring people together, whether it’s on stage or watching from the audience.

They're fine I guess, lol. Usually I just kind of like individual movies rather than caring about what genre it's from or whatever.

Animated musicals vs live action musicals are also an important thing to consider. For animated musicals it might be easier to suspend disbelief, live action less so.

But usually from what I see most musicals are just simply trying to be fun and lighthearted movies. They're not really supposed to be realistic or deep in any way.

I like musicals, but I agree with you... some are good and some... not so good. My favorite musicals are the oldies, from the 50s and 60s, by Rodgers and Hammerstein, Lerner and Lowe.

I like the musical episode in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It had so many layers to it and was so deep. Best musical I had ever seen. Definitely top notch. But in general I like some musicals, like Grease and Pitch Perfect.

I used to visit a place called stage west theatre where they would let you eat at a buffet and then watch a show after or during your buffet. I do not remember the name of the show I watched, but I had a positive experience with the theatrics and plot and cultural variety in the show. As well as the cozy food and opportunity to socialize with friends.

Wicked is great. The old school Camelot is good too. So is Monty Python’s Spamalot, which is sort of a parody of Camelot.

I seem to remember liking Seven Brides for Seven Brothers when I saw it about forty years ago. It's probably banned now. The young seem to be really fussy about kidnapping women for marriage... Different times..
