Honestly, JCS is not mainstream evangelical fodder, so it's not really going to matter except as material for evangelical blog posts to talk (once again) about how messed up the world is.

Christians today get mad over even good Christian media, just to be mad about something. Which I think is stupid, but whatever. Half of them hate "The Chosen", which in my personal opinion is a fantastic creative production of the life of Jesus and the disciples. People might actually be impacted by "The Chosen", but heaven forbid we endorse creative license in filmmaking.

In the context of JCS, I don't care. It's a secular musical and they can do what they like. In the context of an actual attempt to make a film about the life of Jesus, I simply wouldn't bother with it because anyone in their right mind would know it was intended to be inflammatory to a religious group. It would be like casting Brad Pitt or Natalie Portman as Muhammad, or having Joseph and Mary be a gay couple.

I don't know... I'm getting a little sick of the woke stuff. A black little mermaid, Idris Elba as Heimdall, Rachel Zegler as Snow White, Hakeem Kae-Kazim as Zeus, Zendaya as Mary Jane, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape in the new upcoming Harry Potter, gay people HAVING to be in EVERY movie or show, and so much more...

Like fine... be inclusive. I don't care, but why change the original character description? Why portray mythology incorrectly?

It's like making an Indian guy play Mulan, a black man play Cinderella, a white girl play black panther, an Asian dude play Wonder Woman, or Alladdin being playing by a white dude, etc. Like just make a different movie or show!

If I wrote a book and had physical descriptions of all my characters, I would not want it portrayed in a movie or show with such random people.

Thor and Superman are white dudes. If I was an actor, I would not be upset that I could not play them because I'm not white.

@HawkPerception No need to apologize; I hear you. As for the woke aspect, I am very tired of it as well. It's attention-seeking and irrelevant. As a Christian, I don't agree with it for ethical and religious reasons as well.

I guess I have to figure out how to operate in a society where that is part of our society, even though I strongly disagree with the whole thing. It angers me because it's such a damaging mindset for kids, too. It's a fantasy that hurts their ability to integrate into a larger society. The reality of life is that most of us will not follow our dreams and be whatever or whoever we want to be. If we're lucky, we might have a good life with enough to keep us healthy and happy, and with people who care about us.

With this specific issue, though, I laugh because it's the exact same thing Amazon chose to do with "The Rings Of Power". Tolkien has an extremely well-loved fantasy lore with a devoted and intelligent fanbase, as you already know. Amazon ruined it with the progressive nonsense, terrible writing, and treating Tolkien die-hards like idiots. I'd have fired those guys after reading the first season's final draft.

JCS was already doing that, and now they are taking it to the next level. Appropriating Christian "lore" for the sake of progressive ideologies is no different than taking Tolkien's books and turning them into propaganda for something that its base has zero interest in. It's like making a Batman movie that stars Barbie... for Star Wars fans. Ridiculous.

However, as far as it affects me personally, it doesn't because I wouldn't have been interested in seeing the original musical, let alone a newer one. It holds zero appeal, both religiously and artistically. That's why I give it a shoulder shrug.

I think an investigation should be opened up into the project being a money laundering scheme. I think a significant number of the entertainment industry's doomed projects are nothing more than this, and it wouldn't surprise me if a USAID-like government agency is funneling taxpayer money for it.

There is a 0% chance any serious investor expects to make money from this, and it's going out of its way to piss as many people off as possible, years after a solid track record proving that people hate this crap.
