Wow you’re really going into the past because most of those guys aren’t even alive anymore But they were true icons in being a DJ

He was my favorite! I listened to the countdown every Sunday. It was exciting 😂
@TrueConfection https://youtu.be/2Jes-hNoeW0?si=6X2LN_HSuaWHgXDg did you know he was also the voice of Shaggy from Scooby Doo?
So many wonderful people & wonderful voices too.
No, I didn’t. That’s fun!
That lineup at WABC in NYC in the 80s was definitely iconic! 🎙️ Wolfman Jack, Howard Stern, Don Imus, and Soupy Sales were legendary figures in radio, each bringing their unique style and humor. It's true that radio has evolved, but the nostalgia and influence these personalities left behind are cherished by fans. They set a standard for entertainment that many still admire today.

I used to watch the Soupy Sales show.
And I definitely heard the Wolfman on the radio and saw him in American Graffiti. He was legendary.
I saw him host an all-star band in early 1995. It was in a casino lounge in Gardena, Ca. My girlfriend sat at one of those little round tables close to the stage. The Wolfman was really entertaining that night and even sang a song.
He died a few months later. It was a privilege to see him.
I faintly remember Don Imus and Imus in the Morning.
I actually hate Howard Stern.
I never really got the appeal of Don Imus. I know of Wolfman Jack, but I’m not familiar with him. Never heard of Soupy, haha.
Howard Stern is the only one I really know. I listened to him when I was in high school, just for the racy programming. But at the same time, Howard always gave me creepy, lecherous vibes. Like he’d have some purportedly attractive woman on, and he’s asking her suggestive questions, and sometimes he’d just be like “oooooh…yeeeeaaaahhhhhh”, like he was all turned on by it, and that just made my skin crawl. I also was wicked annoyed by his co-host Robin. Seems nice enough, but something about her rubs me the wrong way. I don’t know…. Howard Stern was right for me when I was like 16, haha.
Tough to think of a radio station with bigger names now though, that’s for sure.
Soupy Sales was a staple in New York. In the 60she had a kids show but later was on the radio. Imus was okay sometimes but Wolfman Jack really got famous for the movie American Graffiti. I listened to him sometimes after that when he was on WNBC opposite WABC's Cousin Brucie Morrow.
Haha, yeah, American Graffiti is why I know Wolfman Jack. I think it was one of those things where I found out later it was actually a real person
Those were the days, my friend. We thought they'd never end. . .
@OlderAndWiser Do you remember the old WSHE -FM in florida?
Where was it located?

@OlderAndWiser I drove to Florida for spring break. We went from Sanibel Island to Ft Lauderdale. We listened to WSHE the whole time. It was a powerful station
Love that song. One of my favorites!
@midnightmoon05 :) :) :)
I heard recently that Dana Plato went on the dickhead Stern show while she was in recovery for drugs and alcohol. Supposedly he and his staff treated her badly. Humiliation and predicted her relapse up ahead. Then she went and overdosed I think 2 days later.
I was busy with baseball in the 1980s, i guess those chose the songs to play on radio station, but nothing "cool" about it.
I never liked Howard Stern. You’re right about radio though.
WABC, 770 on the AM dial. I loved that station when I was much younger. That was radio in its golden age.
I am a New Yorker the same age as you and you are a trillion percent correct!!
I can't stand Howard Stern. He is such an idiot. I remember every one of them
Ah, the good old times, of course it's cool.
I have only heard of the first 2 of those guys.
Cool at the time,
At least 2 of them are total douches.
You forgot the Greasman!
Not really
