I didn’t play the sequel, but the second season of the show is portraying a lot of drama and very little action comparatively.
Is that how the game played out?

The second game is thoroughly hated for the retarded story, but the gameplay itself is generally considered fine or good. The problem with the sequel is that it was written by a different guy who actively hates Joel, and has some fetishes and ideals he shoehorned into the series at the expense of the plot setting. He also extended his disdain by making Joel a weaker character in the first season compared to the game.
So naturally, it hasn't translated onto TV viewing well at all, and that's before taking into account the show's own problems with acting and casting.
I know what happens in part 2 of the game. I'm not watching the series cause Ellie is completely different in the series and doesn't look anything like the game character
