I can't think of a favorite summer song, but the first one that popped into my head was:

And when I think about summer, I think about this song, too, even though it doesn't have anything to do with summer.
In the summer of 1970, the year this song was released and was being played on the radio, I had my first car and went to the beach almost every day. I was 16.
One day, two best friends and I went surfing. It was a gorgeous day and we were relaxing on our towels in the warm sun, listening to the transistor radio after having been in the water.
This song was playing and, all of a sudden one of my friends, in sort of a reverie, said "This is the best summer we will ever have."
His comment surprised me. But after I thought about it, I thought he might be right.
The day was idyllic and we were totally care free. No responsibilities or pressures.
And it was a magical summer.

It's always on the TV, and is as summer time as summer time can be.
