Bane first appeared in Batman: Vengeance Of Bane #1. And he’s usually depicted as a hulking wrestler. Who most people know for breaking the bat. He made his live action debut in the 1997 movie Batman and Robin which didn’t go well. Then he returned to the big screen in 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises. However this time he looks nothing like his comic book counterpart. So why is that

Nolan was looking to create a darker, more mature imagery than any cartoonish Bane could portray while maintaining stakes.
They also made him much more mindful than the comics portray him, typically a near mindless hulking goon. He had mastermind qualities so profound in the movie that they effectively hid the true mastermind for most of the flick, right under our noses. That could not have been achieved with a canonical Bane.
