So, for you, who do you think was so perfectly cast that it would be hard for you to accept another in that character role?
Just an FYI, it doesn't have to be a favorite movie or anything like that.
Anthony hopkins just didn't have the 'creep' factor like lecter has in the books..
The film was basic
@Bloodparadise ,
But that isn’t the question. The question is what actors and actresses have made such an impression that no one else could ever play that role. Not book vs film character.
Hell any Steven King book has always been better than the movie they made from it.
Still, my point stands. Anthony hopkins, in my opinion, just didn't deliver the character perfectly. There could've been better actor casted for example, like james mason ( heard he was chosen)
Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.
Keanu Reeves as both John Wick and Neo. I believe I heard a long time ago that Will Smith was supposed to get the Neo role and I'm so glad he turned it down. I couldn't see anyone else playing Neo in the Matrix. Nor could I see anyone else playing John Wick.
Those roles were made for Keanu.
Al Pacino in Scarface
James Gandolfini in The Sopranos
Vin Diesel in the F&F franchise
Leo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet in Titanic
Salma Hayek in Frida
Keanu Reeves in The Matrix
Sylvester Stallone in Rocky
Uma Thurman in Kill Bill
Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man truly feels like a perfect casting choice. His charismatic presence and witty delivery made Tony Stark such an iconic character that it's almost impossible to imagine anyone else donning the Iron Man suit. His portrayal brought depth and charm to the role, making him a defining part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. 🦾✨

When someone mentions Michael J Fox, Harrison Ford and Sylvester Stallone altogether, I'm pretty sure they're not lying about their age lol
I see no better man for the question you asked for and for the job of the grumpy captain afraid of kids: Patrick Stewart as Jean-Luc Picard.
Anywhere in time and space, there is JL. Only JL.

Willem Dafoe Green Goblin, Alfred Molina Doc Ock both did such amazing and fitting roles. Anything else has been a disgrace to these legendary films. I think Spider-man is more replaceable but Tobey Maguire is still the iconic one.
Also this more on a voice acting but Joker that is not Mark Hamill is bad, and the best of the rest who voice him try to copy Mark because they understand he's the best. It does play into why every Live action joker is pointless to me. Though I'm sure Willem Dafoe as Joker would be... amazing.
Also to horror yup nobody else should play Chucky not even you Mark Hamill dumb AI film Nvm Tiffany. Same will go for Saw... nobody else can be John Kramer.
"The Great One,"Jackie Gleason, who after his 1950's and 1960's runs as embattled bus driver Ralph Kramden on the TV sitcom "The Honeymooners," and his own "Jackie Gleason Show," was cast as racist, obese redneck Sheriff Buford T. Justice in "Smokey And The Bandit." Gleason, though a New Yorker, looked perfectly suited for the role of porcine 60's Southern lawman, though "Smokey And The Bandit" was released in 1977, around my niece's birth. (Gleason turned down the Archie Bunker role in "All In The Family," saying the role of bigoted suburban patriarch played to too many stereotypes about blue-collar men.)
Dennis Hopper in Apocalypse Now (played a war correspondent, photographer and observer of Colonel Walter E. Kurtz).
Matt Dillon (in the role of a rebelious 'Rusty James' in Coppola's Rumble Fish).
"Chazz" (Calogero Lorenzo Alfredo) Palminteri in A Bronx Tale.
Pretty much the entire cast of peter Jacksons lord of the rings. Aragorn will always be Vigo Mortenson just like how Gandalf will always be Sir Ian Murray McKellen, Sorrowman will always be Christopher Lee and Frodo and Sam will always be Elijah Wood and Sean Astin respectively. I've never seen a movie let alone trilogy since then that had a better cast that fit the roles.

Reese Witherspoon when she played June Carter in Walk The Line.
@rachel776 I think they did a fantastic job and then to see that they actually were singing the songs themselves and yes if the two of them hadn't already had great acting careers I believe they could have successfully toured with that show. Did you ever watch the movie of June Carter (think it is part of Paramount TV). She was an awesome singer from an awesome family, but obviously not as beautiful as Witherspoon.
