When I got into video work, I constantly compared my work to what I saw in movies and TV. When I watched an instructor explain a technique, I'd keep at it until it was either just as good or I built something on top of it. 😂

Part if it was having a big ego but a lot of it was wanting to prove to myself that I could be one of the best. It was such a fun feeling. Especially if you were around people who could relate.

Yes. I have proved this already. ATM least I have where I am located. I have an undergraduate degree in psychology. That doesn't get youvmany places anymore which I knew. I graduated this past spring with my post graduate degree in a specialized field for psychology. Now I could have done the normal route that most do and go into civil service. Graduating Magna Cum Laude from a major university gave me a very nice position to do something more. Now what that is at the moment is not glorious or wealth making but I do enjoy a degree of general freedom and financial freedom. I will take that at my age and run. I also have bragging rights among my peers and those that are older than me because of my academic achievements that have been put to professional use.

Yes but I realized i dont want to be the best. I lay brick. Its hard work. In high-school I went to a state competition and came in 5th on the state. I went to work in the real world and realized what I learned in school wasn't anything compared to real life. Real life isn't just about perfection it's a about speed, following code, setting and moving scaffolding, being safe, and working so hard and long every muscle in you hurts. Then doing it again the next day. It becomes life. I realized quick it ain't always about being the best.

It isn't about being the best, it's about being the best you can be and ALWAYS pushing your boundaries until you can do so no further, knowing so.

The nature of hierarchy in human groups is decided by each individual, those who are naturally higher up choosing those who know themselves and have wisdom to understand things that the others do not... Everyone else who does not understand this key aspect doesn't even appear on the radar.
