Okay I admit. I'm jealous. 60s and 70s were the best years of music EVER! You cannot top the energy and depth.

Nope. No generation had better music than my generation.

When I was young, I heard all kinds of cool stuff on the radio.
Sherry by the Four Seasons, Sheila by Tommy Roe, the Beach Boys, Jan and Dean, ...

Then the Beatles came out in 1964. And the Stones and the whole British Invasion.

Then came psychedelic and electric folk.

I got my first guitar in 1965 when I was eleven. The first lead I tried to learn was from the long version of Light My Fire by the Doors.

Then I got turned onto Cream and Hendrix. Then, Jethro Tull, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and on and on.

I went to my first concert in 1970 when I was 16 and saw hundreds of concerts throughout that decade and into the 80s. I saw every band. There are way to many to name.

I like to quote Roy Batty in The Blade Runner, "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe."

That was a great video. And it's always fun to see younger people hearing music from the 70s for the first time and being blown away.

Music from the mid-60s through the '70s was an explosion of innovation and creativity by talented musicians with great vocals playing their own instruments.

There have been many great bands and songs since, but modern music was invented during that period.

Totally agree. Did you see the video? Terry Kath has to be one of the most underrated guitarists in history. Until I saw this video I didn't realize it. Hendrix once commented that Kath was a better guitarist than he was.

But, like, music did not begin in 1970! Every generation has this syndrome. My parents' generation lamented Glenn Miller and Sammy Kaye while we were listening to Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis, and later the Beatles! The people in Beethoven's time probably longed for the "good old days" when J. S. Bach was writing...

I think we have a surfeit of excellent musicians in every generation. So many musical talents! The sole problem! You have to spend a lot of time listening to music to find some of them. And you run across some by accident.

I just saw the film "The Last Waltz" about Robbie Robertson and The Band and had no idea they were the group that sang "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down," and what a great guitarist Robertson was. Had heard a lot of their hits. Knew nothing about them when I was listening to their songs on radio. Learned about Train from the theme song of the TV show "Jackie" about the drug-addicted nurse. Fine group. From Tony Hawk's pro-skater game learned about skate punk groups I've liked ever since because my son played the game and then I did too! Jon Batiste, Harry Connick Jr. and more are wonderful.

Don't know how I came across Soundgarden. Or Jeff Buckley. Or so many others I can't name 'em. But there is no decade where there's no great music. That goes all the way back to Handel and Bach, Mozart and Beethoven. I learned about them in music school when I was 7 and taking piano lessons. Those are hundreds of decades ago. Yet still true.

There is no such thing as accidental suicide. By definition suicide requires intent. If a person accidentally kills themself it is not suicide.

Anyway to answer your question no I am not jealous. It’s easy for a person to access Youtube and go back to listen to songs that were made years or decades before they were born.

Terry Kath enjoyed target shooting and by 1978 he was regularly carrying guns. On Monday, January 23, after a party at the home of roadie and band technician Don Johnson in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California, Kath began to play with his guns. He spun his unloaded.38 revolver on his finger, put it to his temple and pulled the trigger. Johnson warned Kath several times to be careful. Kath picked up a semi-automatic 9 mm pistol and, leaning back in a chair, said to Johnson: "Don't worry about it... Look, the clip is not even in it." His last words were, "What do you think I'm gonna do? Blow my brains out?" To calm Johnson's concerns, Kath showed him the empty magazine. Kath then replaced the magazine in the gun, put the gun to his temple and pulled the trigger. Apparently unbeknownst to Kath, the gun had a round in the chamber. He died instantly from the gunshot,[38] eight days shy of his 32nd birthday.

While it's true that most electronically "helped" music absolutely sucks, there is no reason to despair. All the great old hits are available on CD or vinyl. As live or studio recordings. And several great bands from the sixties and seventies I still got to see live in the 1990s.

I just missed the decade with the best music which was 1965- 1975. I still heard a lot of it. I have a cousin who was 10 years older than me and he had an amazing record collection. I guess i am a little jealous.
