No, that's just silly. Thousands of people were involved in making it happen. One of them would tell how it was done.

No. No one who knows anything at all about the space program would believe that. And there's ample proof - for example, the laser reflector that was placed on the surface and has been used ever since to range the distance to the moon (which varies). That wasn't possible before the reflector was installed.

But here's the other thing: we were literally in a race with the USSR - who, if you didn't know, launched a lander with a robotic arm to take samples just a few days before the Apollo 11 launch, hoping to beat us. Their lander crashed into the surface and was lost.

The point is: the USSR and many other countries were watching with every resource they had available. They could track the command module visually for some time and they could pick up the telemetry the entire way. Some countries also had radar and other sensors. Yet, not a single country made any suggestion that it was faked - their own instruments confirmed everything we were told. It would have been a HUGE coop for the Russians if Apollo 11 had failed, so they had every incentive to say so if they had any evidence that it was faked. Oh, and Apollo 11 also returned with 300 pounds of moon rocks and sand. And a number of countries have taken pictures of the base of the Eagle that's still sitting on the moon's surface.

All that conspiracy crap started from an author who wrote a FICTIONAL conspiracy theory book that was turned into the movie Capricorn One, and since the movie came out, people have been referencing ideas from the movie as "proof" that the moon landing was faked - many without even knowing about the movie because they heard it from someone who heard it from someone who heard it from someone who watched the movie.

About a dozen people died, many more were injured, and hundreds of millions of man-hours were spent getting men to the moon - and we JUST BARELY pulled it off. By "just barely", I mean NASA fully expected astronauts to die in space attempting this. The fact that none of the deaths actually took place in space was a miracle, but we had our share here on Earth.

The moon landings were the single largest project that's ever happened by humans, meaning more people were involved and more money spent and more technical breakthroughs made than any other project in history. Frankly, it's disrespectful to espouse that it was all faked (and I'm not suggesting you are doing so, Asker).

I watched the moon landing as it happened. It was HUGE thing. People all around the world watched it even if they had to get up in the middle of the night to do it.

It was at the height of the cold war. You can be damn sure the Soviets would have been watching very closely, and called foul if they thought it was fake. The ones who had the most reason to wish it was fake, and had the technology to determine if it was fake didn't call foul. Even they didn't think it was fake.
