Neil Sedaka has died. Did you like his music?

He had an amazing body of work dating back to the 1950s. He was known more for the songs he wrote that were performed by others but he had many hit records himself including this old classic.

He was a gifted classical pianist, too. He was studying piano with Prof. Adele Marcus at Juilliard while writing songs, and hearing some of them played on the radio in the early days. He was actually working up Bartok's Third Piano Concerto when he decided to quit and devote himself to his own creativity! And the rest, as they say, is history!

I never got into him. He was a big thing in the '50s and '60s before my time, although I remember seeing him on TV.
I later discovered how many great songs he had written.
I can appreciate him much more now that I'm older. His music brings back nostalgia for those days.

I do remember liking Calendar Girl a lot and still do.
