As for what happens next?
Took me a while to think of something but what about some sort of paranormal event takes place and the two cars become one combined vehicle able to take the form of either Christine or Herbie in appearance, only able to resemble one vehicle at a time not both at once but both their personalities/traits are combined, evil mind able to look like Herbie, yet kill like Christine and vice versa.
