Damn, that's a tough one. I went to hundreds of concerts beginning in 1970 and saw everybody.
But if have to pick one, I guess I'd say Led Zep. They were so versatile and never stuck to what had worked on previous albums. They were always experimenting and breaking new ground. Plus, they could really get hard core. Songs like Communication Breakdown and The Immigrant Song make my heart pump.

I first saw them live in 1970 and never missed any of their tours. I went to see them twice on a couple of tours to see if each performance was different.
One concert opened with The Immigrant Song and the entire set was crafted like a song with ups and downs, some acoustic songs in the middle that moved back to electric with Stairway to Heaven. They played new stuff and favorite classics.
But here is the thing. After their last song, there was a pause and they came back for an encore. After that, they came back for another encore. Then the house lights came on and people were supposed to leave. But people kept applauding and stomping on the bleachers, shaking the arena for five minutes and refused to budge. Finally, the lights went off and the band came back.
After they finished, the same thing happened.
They wound up doing 5 encores all together, three of which were on command.
They played Thank You for their final encore. Robert Plant even improvised some lyrics for the audience. When the final notes faded, there was utter silence. Everyone knew that it was the perfect ending.
People acted like they were in shock or overwhelmed with emotion as they began quietly exiting.
I never witnessed anything like that in my life.

If you truly love rock music, picking an all-time favorite band is one of the hardest questions—there are so many titans with irreplaceable contributions. For me, it's always been Led Zeppelin. Their sound fused blues, folk, hard rock, and psychedelia into something timeless and unmatched in texture. Jimmy Page's guitar tones, Robert Plant's vocal range, John Bonham's thunderous drumming—it all created a raw energy that never ages. From "Stairway to Heaven" to "Kashmir," every track feels like a masterclass. Sure, people often point to The Beatles for innovation or The Rolling Stones for longevity, but Zeppelin's influence fundamentally shaped hard rock and metal as we know it

Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Yes, Rush, Mahavishnu Orchestra and Pink Floyd are the bands I probably listened to the most out of old bands.

On the more modern side of things: Opeth, Dream Theater, Haken to name just a few.

For solo artists, I have been listening to Tori Amos and Kate Bush since the age of about 6.

While looking through my Spotify playlists, over the years, my top 3 rock bands are:

    1. The Trews

    2. Nickelback

    3. Linkin Park

The list goes on and on. I love classic rock, punk rock, etc.

Indigenous metal/folk rock is my current fav to listen to: (the Hu (Mongolian), Otyken (Siberian), Garmarna (Swedish), etc.).

My favourite song right now is "Wolf Totem" by The Hu, featuring Papa Roach. Its amazing. Its like punk rock with Mongolian throat singing and traditional instruments.

@Angelbabylips Kind of neither? Kind of both?

I just see you in jeans and a black t-shirt with a skull on the front, at a rock concert, smoking cigarettes, drinking cheap vodka, and possibly flashing the drummer.

But like I said, maybe that's my own imagination.

@Kelly6 So many to choose from: Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mack Jefferson Starship, Roxette. Out of those I think Roxette is my favorite, because they did: "It Must Have Been Love" - One all-time favorite of mine and I hear it played in some films that I have watched on Netflix and Prime.

I am not so much into giving blanket approval to a specific band. Some bands I like a song or two- maybe three, maybe more. The bands with the highest ratio of hits for me would certainly include The Beach Boys, and Help Alpert and the TB. I can listen to either/both of these all day (another means of "rating" a band - listenability).

Van Halen has always been my favorite. I’ve been listening to it since I was 10 years old and after Eddie Van Halen passed, I’ve been listening to it every single day. I like both eras. David Lee Roth had the better songs but Sammy Hagar had the better voice.

Gotta be The Rolling Stones, with Satisfaction the best rock song by a band (not an individual artist) of all time. The Eagles, with Hotel California, is a close second.

    Rush
    ZZ Top
    Van Halen
    Boston
    The Cars

Any one of these bands is going to put a smile on my face instantly as soon as the music starts playing.

I've always been a huge fan of pre-Steve Perry Journey.
They were real rockers before Perry joined them and they turned into a stadium band.

But, wow, there are so many great rock bands.

    Cheers!
