I love how the majority of us said 90s lol. 80s music is always good too, then music between 2000 and 2010.

You can feel a kind of energy in 90s music that no longer exist, a kind of creative spirit and mode that we really won't ever get back at this point. It just hits different. If you listen to classic 90s hits like Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On" or "Always Be My Baby" from Mariah Carey you will notice exactly what I'm talking about. There is just something there that's hard to describe about the soul of music in that decade.

I’m totally with you on being biased 😄 For me it’s a close race, but I always come back to the 90s. Grunge, hip-hop’s golden era, R&B queens, alt rock, early techno, all exploding at once. It feels raw and experimental, like cinema’s indie boom but in music form. Still hits so hard. 🎧✨

Yes. I was always fascinated by the Woodstock era. Cultural touchstones like Easy Rider and Watergate were iconic. There is really nothing like it today. Iron Butterfly was awesome.

For me, it started with the early Beatles. But music evolved quickly. There was the folk period that introduced poignant lyrics about social issues, war, peace, love, coming together.
Psychedelic stuff (like Strawberry Alarm Clock) came along.
In the late '60s we got Steppenwolf, the Doors, Cream, the Who, Pink Floyd, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix.
There was stuff like James Taylor, Carly Simon, Carol King, Joni Mitchel, CSNY, etc.
Black music and Motown became mainstream.
There was Santana, the Allman Brothers, the Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane.
Then there was progressive rock with bands like Jethro Tull, Uriah Heep, ELP, Yes, etc.

Hard rock was invented around 1970 with bands like Black Sabbath and Deep Purple.
Hard rock and new genres of heavy metal exploded in the early 70s.

Basically, people weren't just writing new songs, they were inventing heretofore unheard of styles of music. Social changes, drugs, rebelliousness, the civil rights and anti-war movements, combined with brand new technologies inspired the new music that blossomed during that age.
