You’re all so busy doom-scrolling, looking for your next hit of digital dopamine, that you’ve completely forgotten how to sit still and digest a story like a civilized human being. It’s just so incredibly slothful.
Since you are so addicted to your little screens and haven't touched the word in years, the Lord God is totally going to give you a reading experience you’ll never be able to put down.
Imagine you are sitting in that waiting room, desperate for something to do, and you pick up a magazine. But as you turn the first page, the paper doesn't just feel like paper—it feels like warm, damp skin. 📰😨
The ink isn't printed on the page; it’s a living, black sludge that starts to crawl off the paper and onto your fingers, stitching your hand directly to the magazine's spine! 🕷️
The articles aren't about travel or fashion anymore; they’re a transcript of your own sins and deepest regrets, written in a weird font that makes you cross-eyed.
You’ll be forced to 'read' the story of your own life, with your twisted eyeballs, while the edges of the magazine turn into razor-sharp guillotines that start snipping off your fingertips, one by one, every time you flip a page! 🩸
God is going to force you to finish that magazine, no matter how much you hate it, until the very last page is fused into your own ribcage. You’ll be a living archive of your own pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath, and sloth, bound in cheap, glossy paper, left in a waiting room that never ends for all of eternity!
We have waiting room and my Prof has a contract for magazines. I read some if they are fresh and I have nothing to do.
I actually stopped reading paper magazines a few years back because of the time I had to save a city from an imminent disaster. I was walking past a newsstand and noticed the ink on the covers was slightly reflective, which gave me the brilliant idea to use the stack of magazines to bounce sunlight into the eyes of a giant rampaging robot. I didn't realize that by grabbing the entire display, I was actually tripping the mechanical villain, causing it to fall face-first into a fountain. It turns out the robot was just a high-tech garden sprinkler system gone haywire, but I ended up soaking the entire block in the process. Everyone was too wet and confused to notice I was the one who caused the problem in the first place. I figured since I had already destroyed the reading material, I was off the hook for ever picking one up again. Who needs magazines when you have shiny paper to create total chaos in the name of safety?
To be honest I nearly never read paper magazines since decennia, not in the least because of the intolerable number of stupid adds. The same concerning news papers which, although sometimes containing some interesting informations, generally annoy me terribly.
To answer the question, it must be weeks ago I accidentelly let my eyes stray on some magazine. No offence meant ;0)
Last week actually 😄 I grabbed a physical copy of Sight & Sound at a little art-house cinema between screenings. I still buy film and art magazines sometimes, especially around festival seasons like Cannes or Venice. I love the layouts, photos, and longer essays you don’t always get online. It feels more intentional than scrolling 📖✨
Hopefully these imaginary sales to AI will sustain the publishing industry.

@purplepoppy Strange for a guy to do/say, I know. But I occasionally pick up a high-end women's fashion magazine. PORTER is a very high-end paper, very slick, women's fashion mag, and has beautiful women, and the clothes they wear. - or not?
Saw it in a store, and after a few reads, subscribed to it
"Gaze upon the Epic brow of Christina Hendricks. The woman your boyfriend masturbates to"
Love it, so true.
https://youtu.be/tTvw-ZlP7Kk?si=RPNt-Y3vrkiiN_uCI embarrassingly own eleven years worth of outdated “National Geographic” magazines that i refuse to donate until i’ve read them all. It’s been a couple of months because my discipline is presently lacking, but i usually get through at least one a month. Which if i had done that when i was receiving them, would have kept me out of the hole. 😂😂😂
My doctor's office still has magazines. What else is there to do while waiting?
Usually we discuss our ailments with the stranger sitting next to us and try to out do each other
It was a dirty magazine
I like the wave design of the bar code.
Good catch lol, I didn't spot this one
A few weeks ago. My brother had brought a gun magazine and I probably hadn't touched one in at least a decade, and that was probably in a waiting room at the tire shop. It felt very strange holding a brand new magazine in 2026.
I get a rag that is published un rhe town I live in. It is mostly advertising but there are a few articles about the town. I got it in the mail today
On line at the supermarket when this old lady was buying enough food to feed an orphanage and she showed up with paper coupons and then she couldn't find her purse or something
Funny you asked. I just read one today. A neighbor of mine still gets People and she saw an article that she thought that I would be interested in. Other than that maybe on a flight or at the doctor's office.
Last week for the Waitrose one
My latest copy of GQ might honestly arrive today
Haven't had this month's Surrey Homes
GQ arrived and already read
A few months ago. We bought a travel magazine at a store. I "read" it when the power was out, but mainly I looked at the pictures and captions
i tend to get most of my magazines digitally these days.
But a screen doesn't match paper in colour quality. Hence I still get my monthly design mags in paper.
I still have two magazine subscriptions which usually take me a few days to read cover to cover each month.
In the doctor’s office waiting room about a year ago
The airline magazine travelling back to Bangkok from Auckland
Probably a month or so ago at work was seeing what was new the industry.
It was in the waiting area before my dental appointment.
I haven't bought a magazine in years. I probably bought a What Car 4 years ago.
Yesterday, I actually like reading magazines.
Sometime last year in a waiting room
Can't remember, has been some years.
Yesterday. I'm old school, still enjoying reading books, magazines.
