I'm not much of a reader, but I like when stories are thought provoking. So in entertainment I enjoy things that make me experience a possible future, make me think about a concept or that puts the protagonist in some elaborate and tricky situation they have to navigate.
Love story wise I once wrote one for myself just for fun that is angel themed, it was a story about a guy who was just about to go home from work and he finds an injured girl in the parking lot who is very weak and all she can mutter is if he can take her home. So he takes her home with him so she has a safe place to rest up, then it turns out that she is actually his lover "from above" and she missed him so much she descended the unnatural way. The rest of that story explores them bonding, exploring her unique abilities and them dealing with the tricky aspects of her being an angel. Because she is one if they have sex she'd loose her wings, and her coming from an environment that is nothing but love she finds being on earth very hard on her heart. One central theme being that her wings were damaged from the fall, and only with enough love can they heal so she can fly back. The story finishes with their bond / love becoming strong enough to where she can go back if she wants to, but she chooses to stay.
The fun thing about that story is that I wrote that around 12 years ago and a future relationship had elements of that story that were supposed to be only possible in fiction. So I kinda intuitively predicted what was truly possible if you have that ultimate form of love and compatibility.
I read history these days. For entertainment, I enjoy historical fiction and have a particular soft spot for ancient Celtic (Gallic) and Irish heroes.
But, before I retired, I spent a lot of time on the road. I would check out several books on CD at a time from the library and listened to hundreds of novels of all genres.
A couple that I remember particularly enjoying were the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich, and The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series is Alexander McCall Smith.
As a reader: ... I prefer to like what's not tailored to myself.
The stories I like are those that keep me thinking about it long after the book ended.
It's mostly Science Fiction that has no space battles in the story, and that deal with provocative or controversial ''ideas''.
I like reading:
- Books (fantasy, horror, science fiction, detective & mystery, adventure)
- Comics (not just about superheroes, but also normal human heroes, and comical characters)
- Magazines (science, mystery, technology, geography, history)
Short stories. Know anyone who is full of them?
Haha yep. Starts with a C lol
I like to read a lot of different things. I was a big fan of the Spencer novels and Harlan Coban, also science fiction like Neil Gaiman or historical novels
Biographies, history, and educational. If I can't learn something from a book, I see no point in reading it.
I'm all over the place. First I'll read a Jack Ryan type of novel, then a swashbuckler or revenge story, then a philosophy or theology book.
Self-help books, however, I stopped reading years ago.
I like reading poetry, especially classical rhyming poems.
I like real world stuff. The girl jumping bridge sounds like a fun story. Not really into orc and granny p0rn.
I’m a sci-fi guy mostly.
Tech, biography, crime, travel, history...

I’m Lily 😊 I read a lot across genres, but what hooks me most is emotional intensity plus originality.
I love flawed characters, messy relationships, morally gray choices, slow-burn tension, and vivid atmosphere. Romance works best for me when there’s real stakes: trauma, secrets, clashing values, culture gaps, power imbalance handled thoughtfully.
Your alien/witch love story sounds the most compelling, because it hints at worldbuilding and uniqueness 🌙✨
