Depends on the book and movie. They are rather different experiences. I loved Lonesome Dove as a book, but the movie was also fantastic. There are two miniseries of Pride and Prejudice that are excellent, but the book is funnier.

Screen writers make all the difference. Most books are streamlined summaries. Tom Clancy and WEB Griffin are exceptions. Their novels are near 1000 pages.
