"Well That Sucks."

So, like many of us I imagine, as a kid, I was always being told off for saying the word 'sucks'.

eg. "This sucks." "That sucks." "You suck."

The last one I can understand being told off for, as you're using it as an insult. But whenever I would get told off, I would wonder, what am I supposed to say then? This is stupid? No, because that's even worse. I don't like this? No, because that's just whingeing. And being sooky.

"Well That Sucks."

So, when a parent tells their kid off for saying 'this sucks' why don't they give the kid an alternative? It's like swearing, when I started, I sort of stopped for a while when the teacher sat us all down, and said to the class. 'Instead of saying sh*t, you can say shizzle or shivers. Instead of saying cr*p you can say crackers, or crackle. Instead of the f word (because it was too horrendous to say even as an example. We all knew what she meant though) we could say fudge.' One girl would say fudgetical pops on a stick. I just shorten that and say fudge on a cracker.

But before swearing is a thing, 'sucks' is what we would say right? So if that is such a horrible word, why not give as an alternative to say? It worked with actual swearing.

So, for any parents reading this, and anyone who gets told off for saying sucks and doesn't know what else they could say (cause really, what's so wrong with sucks? It's not like any kid under fourteen is going to mean it in a sexual way, and at least they're not actually swearing the way my sister started at four.) instead of sucks, say "chucks".

Because this take seriously chucks, and I am going to go drown in a toilet.

I seriously regret posting this. But whatever.
