You'll find each other potential dates and never be afraid they might flirt with your guy.

Cons of having friends with different taste in men:

When you describe your perfect guy none of your friends get it.

You can't gush over your SO's masculine nose or the funny way he dances when he's excited and fully expect your friends to relate.

The things that excite you aren't the things that excite them, so every passionate point you make might go right over their heads.

Your argument holds true for some women, but not most of them. Dates that your friends arrange for you are never successful. And even if your friend and you have different tastes, it's still possible that both men she likes and men you like all hit on her, if she's hotter, and you end up being a sidekick. Ok rant over

Couldn't you just hit on the guy that you like? It might suck that guys that you like hit on your friend, but couldn't you have your friend reject him (if she agrees) and then you can hit on him?

@Salohcin22 Well, first of all this had happened to me in the far past, when I was less pretty and confident than now, and my best friend looked a lot better than me. I had tried then what you suggest, I had hit on guys I liked to no avail and I had made my friend (s) talk to him for me 2-3 times but it was very humiliating, and I'd advice everyone against it. Simply, either someone likes you, or he doesn't. Right now, I do have a relationship, but even if I were single, I 'd never accept someone hitting on me after being rejected from a friend of mine. I don't like being second best, and I 'd prefer someone to treat me like the special person I am, not like the last option. Anyway, my point was that even if you and your best friend have different tastes, it doesn't mean that the men you like will have different tastes as well.

When your friends don't see how you're interested in the fella, and he does something dumb, they'll be uninhibited in telling you to dump his rump. Then he has to prove himself both in your eyes, as well as gain favorableness with your friends. There's no shame in the move towards compromise in relationships, admitting personal fault, taking accountability on both sides.

For young guys who are in the mentality of party, chasing tail, they can look upon you tying down to a chick, "oh look, he's so whipped", then you say, "hey if you want to get up into the triple digits, I'll help". Then you can be a competent wingman, dance with, cheer the grenade on mechanical bull, which can be a fun time.

My taste in men is very different from what most women would conventionally consider hot.

I don't share it with female colleagues, though, because in most cases they'll blurt out their usual bullshit about how I'm weird and their tastes are the "correct" ones.
