Farewell and Thank You My Friend...

Farewell and Thank You My Friend...

Its been a few days now and it weighs on my mind. I didn't get the chance for a proper good bye and thank you. On a beautiful sunny spring Wednesday afternoon, I heard that L held your hand at bedside 'til the end. I was comforted knowing that it happened as it should have, but its been on my mind without a moment to spare since.

We passed in the hallway just a week ago Thursday and each engaged in our own efforts went by without saying a word to each other. I caught a glimpse of your face and your gait, no words came to mind but the color gray describes my impression. Your gait was weak and you appeared faded, I should've known and I suspect you did. I wish now, that I had at least broken the moment and said "good morning", but it's a small regret that I'll continue to carry.

I didn't get to say good bye, but I believe now that your last year has been a farewell tour. As always, professionalism, passion and class. As I recount the handful of gates we've sat in during that time I see that you were doing more coaching than leading. Preparing to hand off the torch. I am thankful, we are all thankful. It wasn't that long ago that without your presence it would have been a full on blood letting. But we've all grown and we'll carry the torch...and I'm sure you know that...with only the occasional minor blood letting haha.

Passion to the end, and I can't explain what it means that you chose to hang in there with us until your time came. We are only days away, and I truly wish you'd be there to see it with us all. This won't be like the last. We will tilt the landscape with this but still a lot to do!

Thank you for all my friend and mentor. Godspeed.

Peace out.
