Many mothers want to raise their sons as innocent, cute cuddly non-sexual beings. Frequently citing the desire to 'shield them from the (nasty) world.'

You are the woman. You know exactly what it's like to be a teenage woman, and a twenty year old woman. You know what boys want, and exactly what traits in boys women go for. You know cause' you have done it yourselves.

You must show your son the tricks to get him laid or else you are doing him a huge disservice akin to not watering a plant, you stunt his growth. Good ideas. However, you leave out some very important aspects of Elliot Rodger's upbringing:

1. His mother did her disgusting best to turn Elliot against his father, and Elliot became a pawn in the fights his mother had with his father.

2. NEITHER parent taught Elliot to be responsible for himself. For example, when Elliot threw tantrums and ended up accidentally ruining a laptop computer, or losing a nice necklace in his rages, the parents promptly bought him a new laptop computer and gold necklace rather than admonishing Elliot that his foolish actions had consequences.

3. BOTH parents sadly indulged Elliot's narcissism and sense of entitlement. When Elliot quit some entry level jobs after just one day because he thought such jobs were beneath him, neither parent held him accountable for that. (Entry level jobs beneath a teenager? Really? Like this little brat thought he was entitled to start out in middle management?)

4. Neither parent told Elliot how the real world worked at all. Perhaps this was because both parents were caught up in their own lives and paid Elliot little mind, or perhaps they wrongfully thought showering Elliot with material goodies was sufficient.

That's stupid. Elliot Rodger became whom he was due to being a dumbass and having trouble inside himself that only therapy could've eventually helped. Some of this is true, other parts are a little overboard.

Women do tend to want to raise their sons in a way that stunts them in this area. They don't do this purposely or maliciously. They give bad advice in general to men, even when it's well-meaning, because they always give this advice based on what they personally think they like. Which as we know as guys often doesn't fit reality.

Many women don't understand the importance of masculinity also, and I think this is related. The majority of women are more attracted to masculine men. You can see this in any poll done on here, or you can find numerous studies which show this to be true. You can also just use your eyes and your brain and observe female behaviour. It should be common sense, but in today's world common sense isn't common. Instead people prefer to believe in certain things just because they're popular.

What we see now is women obsessed with encouraging their boys to act more like little girls. It really is an obsession, one which I find to be really strange. The main questions we're asked about our boys is whether we'd let them play with dolls, wear make-up, dresses etc. You see many questions about this on this site also. When we say "no", people act like we're terrible parents for not wanting to raise our boys more "gender-neutrally". Again you'll see this mostly in the female answers on those questions.

So those women will raise soft, effeminate boys. They also reject the idea that women prefer masculine men, even though it's obvious that most of them do, because they cling to these other beliefs. Therefore they're setting up their sons for failure without even realising it. Again they're not doing it maliciously, they just don't know that what they're doing is gonna turn out bad.

It's the same for very religious women also, as with your recent post on sexual desire and shame. Because they don't want their sons to be mansluts they teach boys to feel shame around sexual desire, and they basically want to keep their boys naive when it comes to that stuff. To raise them to be more soft. This again relates to masculinity - you can have a soft side as a masculine man, but you can't BE soft and be masculine at the same time.

It's not really the job of women to teach a boy how to "get laid" and "pick up" women. Women don't even know how that works, so they couldn't do that even if they wanted to. A woman trying to teach a man how to be a man is like a penguin trying to teach a shark how to be a shark. If you leave it to penguins to teach sharks how to be sharks all you'll have is a sea filled with toothless sharks, while the other penguins laugh at how useless those sharks are at being sharks, and wonder where all the real sharks went.

It's the job of men mainly to teach men how to be men. Women should take a step back in this area really.

In one of my takes which I think you commented on I spoke about how women's advice create nice guys and sets guys up for failure. Both my parents were real hung up about the subject of sex, so I guess you could say my mother was raising a 'nice little boy', as you described above. There's a number of other factors that came into play here, like his father's divorce from his original mother (a Malaysian Chinese). When they moved, (if I remember correctly) his friendship with his (sole?) female childhood-friend was disrupted and would prove a fatal blow to all future female-relations.

I agree with Adam intj. Men who are strong and secure of themselves don’t need sexual approval or anything like that. Only needy and desperate men who don’t have a purpose and don’t work on themselves have those issues

What @Warmapplecrumble said is 100% spot on and is by far the biggest factor in this issue. Most single mothers have no clue how to raise a boy to be a good and successful man, and many non-single mothers sabotage the development of their sons, albeit unwittingly. It sends chills up my spine when I think about the fate of poor boys raised by women like @MlleCake and @MzAsh.

No. Boys should be raised in military styled male only schools after they reach 10 until they finish high-schools. A bunch of male only colleges would be great also. We can't have that because of supposed "old boys' clubs "and other SJW bullshit though.

Seriously, it's the father's duty to train a boy to be a man. Women can't do that, they like the equipment necessary for such a thing.

I think there's an underlying systemic issue at play. I used to blame myself too for being unable to find a girlfriend, but it's hard to ignore all the statistics that say everyone is struggling to maintain relationships right now. Marriage is at an all time low, divorce has skyrocketed, family values are gone, obesity and depression is way up...
