How do I convince my parents to let me get my tongue pierced?

I have been wanting to get this piercing for a very long time and I am of legal age, but I want to keep my parents in the loop. The last thing I want is for them to think I'm going behind their back, but I AM getting this piercing. I just want them to understand.

Where I live, these types of piercings aren't very common, and my parents can be a little conservative. How do I set their minds at ease?

Yup can't make them okay with it. My parents dislike my piercings and tattoos in general (mostly my mother) but they tolerate them. With my tongue ring, the thing that makes it easier is that no one really notices I have it. Heck, I was playing with it the other day and my own bf said he forgets I have it pierced (spoiler, the oral sex stigma is complete BS).

just dont do what my uncle did. he did it at some cheap place behind my his parents (my grandparents) back. but then it ended up coming unscrewed and he swallowed it and had to get his stomach pumped and missed my 5th grade graduation. hahaha.

You can't make your parents agree with your choices, I don't know you and I don't even agree with this choice. You just have to do it and fave them, it's your life. You should also know though, it will be harder to get a job and there are infection risks.

Yup, I'm aware of those. I studying graphic designing, so tattoos and piercings aren't such a shocker or deal breaker in this industry.

Everything I did that my parents didn't approve of or didn't *allow*, I did or got anyways. In the end what's done has been done. Like my tattoos, my parents are really traditional assumes tattoos = gangster. So when I got mine ya they complained but I simply told them I already got em... I can't undo what's done. They just accepted that.

If your parents are conservative, they will never forgive you. Do not take them for granted. And with a tongue piercing, your "possible bf" pool drops to a minority.
