so next month I will be going and getting my nose pierced. obviously anyone out there who pierces up will deal with at least a few family members who are against it and what not. in my case, a lot of my family just lives a state away so I see them like every few months. and with most of the family I'm just gonna show up with the nose ring with no warning next time I go.
but I do have one grandparent that I'm very close to that I do wanna tell beforehand that i'm gonna get my nose pierced. problem is, she got pissed the 2 times I got my ears pierced. she got more pissed at my mom though. she did get over it eventually, but back then I told her I wouldn't get anymore piercings, but she predicted I would. she was right.
I want to soon go ahead and tell her before it happens instead of giving her a heart attack when I show up at her place with it. if I were to just show up with it I'm sure I wouldn't hear the end of it. I've been putting this off for awhile though, since like before Thanksgiving.

alright people, for those who say I shouldn't get it pierced. I'm still going to do it. I know that its like I'm rebelling against the family, but hell it isn't like they are the ones who gave birth to me. my parents are fine with it all. I would be a completely different person than I am right now if I was like my grandparents. I kinda feel better being the weird one in the family, being myself but still close to them. so I'm going to sit there and take all the hate I can till they cool down.
How to tell grandparent about me getting nose pierced?
Well here is the easy answer. YOU DONT GET IT PIERCED. You respect thier wishes and ideals. Getting it is only showing that you don't care and are rebelling against your family and it's ideals. That is what they see. A girl who cares less what her caring family thinks. Who only wants what she wants and will go through some pain to get it altering her pretty body to get an ugly nose ring.
They won't see it as you having fun getting something you want. Your saying screw you I'll do what I want with it. Even if you tell her she will still think wtf is my granddaughter doing to herself and why want to?
There's no way to tell them without just telling them. But, if you already seem like the odd one out, how strange will this be to them? They probably half expect it.
Just say "Hey gran/gramma (whatever you call her) i got my nose pierced and I love it, wanted to let you know before you see me. Of course she's going to give you the speech and tell you exactly what she thinks of it! Most grandparents think one piercing in the ear is all that's needed. I wore a fake nose ring once and my granny yelled at me all 4 feet 9 inches of her, she even swore infront of me! 😂 Then I took it out and said it's fake, granny! She actually spanked me lol
don't do it. seriously. i know it's not the answer you want and you probably have your reasons but it's not worth upsetting your grandmother like that.
that's the thing though like I know she eventually would get over it. cause she did with the other piercings, like it was half the day she was unhappy then she was like "oh well" and got over it instead of staying mad forever
well it would be the only piercing I would want that actually shows. not that I'm begging for attention but my ear piercings are covered by my hair a lot because its so thick and long. I actually once made a fake nose ring from wire (made it into a loop) and stuck it on. I honestly thought it looked good so I thought "there ya go" I mean yeah I could just stick with the fake type but I've always felt weird using fake piercings. even fake earrings before I got my ears pierced. that's just me though
I'd surprise her. You're gonna get slack anyway and so there is no reason to warn anyone ahead of time. It will be something to talk about at the next get together in person, it sucks revealing things over the phone.
Well you can tell her some bad like if she hate tattoos a lot than first ask her about it and let her say whatever she want when you find out she is calming down just ask okay i will not get that but may i get my nose pierced😊
Well, since you don't see her in months, get the piercing and, meet her without the nose ring or whatever it's called. It's not like, the piercing will disappear.
don't they usually close up pretty fast? I had my ears pierced when I was a pre-teen and they still try to close up if I don't wear anything in them for awhile
You have to just tell her. If not they find out when they see you. Like I didn’t tell my mom about my tongue piercing and tattoo she found out on her own
Ehh don’t mention your going to. Just show up with it in. I understand how draining it is to update your grandparents on every thing you do that they don’t agree with but it’s your body not theirs.
I’d just give her a call and act all serious, like you’re going to tell her you’re pregnant or something, and then say you’re getting your nose pierced.

That's similar to, as a kid, my dad saying, 'Well I'll kick ya in tha butt - then you won't feel your -insert- ...' But no, only the other way around. A tattoo is so common now, and can be under cover. Piercings... we are talking about ones they will see...
its easy to hurt feelings and convince them later on (but relation is just like a thread, u can weaken it but never try to break it, will never join back together, there will always be that knot)
