I cuddle with my sister, is it weird?

Question

I'm 21 and she's 15. We've always been super close. We love each other and cherish the moments we have.
 Sometimes we cuddle in bed. We spoon, I caress her hair face and arms. I do it all in love but in the back of my mind I feel that if anyone knew we did this they'd get the wrong idea

So is this a weird thing to do? Anyone else do this with their sisters or brothers?

My brother and I have always been close. We hug each other all the time even used to wrestle (since he didn't have a brother to spar with) ; but once he reached puberty things had to change. We no longer hugged on the couch was the main one. Just because our sibling dynamics changed. We certainly never spooned or caressed each other's face though. We're still close and occasionally he sleeps in my room on the floor if we have a movie night with my cousin. Its just about boundaries and knowing where they lie. Some siblings are physically affectionate and others aren't; but I feel like you should modify your behaviour.

I think its ok. although I dont have a sister. Just looking at society you can see how many families are messed up, how many brothers and sisters hate each other/fight. As long as its strictly platonic I think its fine, maybe even helpful for her if she feels like she doesn't have anyone else to be close to.

Weird how our society has degraded so badly that "hugging/cuddling your sister" immediately is seen as perverted or strange

Don't listen to these people typical America freaks out about everything sexual. Unfortunately 80% of the planet doesn't agree with you America. I had a little sister I did the same thing, probably more than you cuz it was pretty much a daily or every other day occurrence. she turned out fine nothing inappropriate happened she used to get scared or she would just not want to be by her self. she'd come into my room and cuddle fall back asleep. Honestly I felt that I slept better when she did that too I got into a deeper sleep more comfortable I guess. We were very close and I was like her typical Big brother bodyguard Dad wasn't in the house and mom was always at work so I was pretty much parent and sibling. I think it made her safer and loved so that she could sleep better and I didn't mind doing it because I loved her. We lived in a small house so we also had to share a bathroom so it's not like we never saw each other naked we even had to share a shower once in awhile during the winter because we only had about 15 minutes of hot water and if we were running behind for school it was the only way to have a comfortable shower otherwise you had to wait about an hour and a half to two hours and the water was freezing cold it was a place up in the mountains. But no matter what the situation was it was always a brother sister mentality so no one freaked out about it ( including our mom ) nobody gave 2 seconds about it we did what we had to do and usually we were in a hurry cuz we were running behind for school I would drop her off at elementary then junior high School and I would go to my school. The best advice I can give you is do, do not listen to anybody else only you and your family know the Dynamics of what feels comfortable and what doesn't. your brain has a natural self-analytical moral compass so to speak that will let you know when and if it's gone past a boundary stay within those guidelines nobody else's opinion really matters.

Appareantly, I am the only one who doesn't think it's weird. I spoon sometimes with my dad, because me and my dad are very close, and it's not something sexual. If you don't feel sexual aroused and your sister feels the same, it's okay. Otherwise, you should stop.

it's strange because of the gender difference. my sister cuddles with me all the time but she doesn't "caress" my face and arms... i mean, she might poke my hips or play with my hair, but everyone in my family does that. your sister is much younger than you and impressionable- i think you need to stop this kind of behavior, it might be confusing for her. you can be super close without having to be close physically like that.

Well, Im an only child. But from my perspective it is your sister. I don't think its weird if she like laid against you while on the couch. But spooning is a bit much. But remember, some families do different things and not everyone has the same relationship with their siblings.
If she and you are both ok with it, and nothing more comes from it. I don't see why it'd be a problem

If you're lucky enough to feel genuine affection for people around you, that isn't necessarily sexual, why do you listen to society when it tries to make you feel weird for that? Nothing wrong with cuddling, but I think spooning and caressing is a bit much. After I had a nasty breakup with a boyfriend, my brother held me while I cried, kinda like a father to his child. But there was no spooning or caressing, I think that's a little too intimate

It's a bit strange, yes. If you were like 17 and cuddling with your 7 year old sibling while watching a movie it wouldn't be weird. I think you should stick to sitting up next to eachother cuddling, not spooning. That's too intimate for siblings. And caressing her is just way too much.

Does it have a sexual undertone to it? If not, then it's not weird. Most men nowadays are taught to avoid touching, that physical contact should either be erotic or aggressive.

I am 17 and my Brother is 23 and when I was growing up, our dad let me forget he exsisted.
And we started reconnecting after he past away say... mh possibly 8 or 9 years ago? And we cuddle. He usually holds me and hugs me from behind, especially when something is wrong.
In my opinion, I feel as though we're making up for the time we didn't have when we were kids. And he's married. And as a younger sister, I actually enjoy it. It makes me realize as a female, how I should be treated.
