Sister chose best friend over me?

My sister asked her best friend to be maid of honor for her wedding. I am very hurt that she chose her best friend over her own sister her flesh and blood. Do I have a right to be hurt. Shouldn't a sister come before a best friend? I mean family first right?

This is why weddings suck! Fighting already. It is her choice and you should respect that. I would not be offended. She has a different connection to her friend than she has with you. Right now in her life she feels the best person for that role is her friend. That doesn't mean she doesn't love you. I was the Best Man for my brother. To be honest it was a lot of work, annoying, frustrating, nerve wracking and I never got to enjoy myself the day of until about 10 pm that night. I think you should be happy that you are dodging a bullet!

I think no matter what, she should've asked you first. Family comes first. If you didn't want to do it, than she should have asked her friend. But, you have a right to be hurt. I wouldn't attend my sisters wedding if she did that to me tbh.

I agree that for the most part family comes first if you are close to them but some people aren't and are closer to their friends. In my case I am. close to my sister so that is why I am hurt. In general though there are some people who aren't close to their family and are closer to their friends so I think it is OK to choose a friend. Some people may consider a best friend family.

I'm stuck between here. I mean your her sister but she is her best friend. So the best friend should be the maid of honor but if you and your sister are close then I'm not sure.

I thought I was close to my sister. And I'm her only sister.

Maybe you should talk to your sister about it. Just say that you thought you would be maid of honor. She will explain why.

I did and she said that if she chose me then her best friend would have said that she would have said the same thing I did which is that because she is her best friend she should be maid of honor and that it was a very tough decision but in the end she felt that she had to go with her best friend because I will always be her sister but her best friend can get mad at her and decide not to be her friend anymore.
