Should I tell my friend's mom she cuts herself?

Yesterday, at school in the girls bathroom she showed me cuts on her thighs and wrists. She said she doesn't want to kill herself she just wants to relieve stress. I feel like I should tell her mom but I don't know.

I feel that's for her to tell her mom. You could talk to her about the importance of letting her mom know though. She'll regret this when she's stable and looks at the scars on her legs, so it's crucial she gets help & finds therapy, or other stress relieving mechanisms.

I've fallen prey to using sex as a coping mechanism in the past, and it's only made things hurt deeper. Same incentive.

yes i once had a guyfriend who used to cut to "relieve his stress and i knew about it and i told him not to but he said that he won't go wild and he will just make tiny scars that won't harm, you know what happened? yes he died, he died when i could have done a lot about it i don't want you to feel regret trust me it is a bad feeling so go inform her parents directly

Tell you friends this is only a temporary relief for stress. Tell her mother ASAP or really tell any adult you trust. This is super serious, and can cause many bad things to happen to her. It's good that you worry about your friend, and I can see why. This isn't healthy for her at all, tell her mother before she really hurts herself.

I'm with Okeydoke. Tell a teacher or councilor and stress that you want to remain anonymous. She may get angry at the time but she'll be glad she got help later.

I think you should because it's a bad habit no matter if she wants to kill herself or not. Hurting yourself on purpose is a sign of something bad. And not doing anything about it could lead to something worst.
