Why is my best friend getting on my nerves?

i really like her, we've been besties ever since we we're tiny but she annoys me sometimes. she brags a lot but in a subtle way, she looks at herself in the mirror for so long and she looks fake sometimes. she also tells me straight up when a hot guy is out of my league. i always tell her when she looks good and give her compliments but she just admits i can't get an attractive guy and never says i look nice which i think is a bit rude. she also never does anything with me, i understand she's busy but she doesn't even try and she's too lazy to do stuff all the time

Sounds like she is very insecure and that's why she cuts you down and stares at herself in the mirror all the time. She has no right to put down your looks or tell you that somebody is out of your league. I had a friend just like this. We were friends since we were kids and are now young adults. We grew up and became different people. She acted like your friend did, and I finally decided that I didn't want to be friends with people who were 1. self absorbed and 2. trying to bring me down. I had to ditch her, which was difficult because we had been friends for so long. I'm not saying you should stop being friends with her because that is your choice, but you should definitely reevaluate your friendship with her. Don't be afraid to stop hanging out with her if that's what needs to be done. Otherwise, confront her about her rude comments and see what she says. If she gets defensive or puts you down even more, then maybe it's time to leave. A true friend would care if your feelings were being hurt.

Don't waste time trying to talk to somebody who puts no effort in. I did this for so long. A real friendship is a two way street, meaning both people need to make the effort. Don't make excuses for her. Busy or not, she should find time. I hope you reevaluate your friendship and can come to a conclusion. Personally, would find new friends or would rather have no friends at all than have one that treated me like absolute crap.
