Would most fathers be ok if their daughter's boyfriend was quiet, very shy and somewhat naive?

One of my friends is dating a guy like that. He was very shy when getting introduced to her parents and didn't really talk too much. He has very few friends too (only 3 close friends and the others are just acquaintances).

- Also, he never drank nor smoked ever.
- High GPA too

If there is one way to describe him is he's exactly the male version of the Ms. Goody two shoes. How would most father react if their daughter was dating a boyfriend like that?

I wouldn't be alright with it. I would want a good man who can protect and provide for my daughter and their potential children. You won't survive in this world by merely being cute and naive with a high GPA. It's dog eats dog out there.

Thank you for your honest opinion. I have to say though, my father wouldn't be that impressed. Interesting, he doesn't want me falling for a jerk that's only trying to get in my pants but he would find a very shy guy that's more naive than me boring. Now I find that contradicting.

Though he does drink occasionally and socially, he is definitely very quiet.

Quiet is fine. Passive is not so good. I would mostly care whether the guy is nice to my daughter and can hold up his half of a relationship.
